Under Executive Decree No. 26-305 of 22 September 2026, published in Official Gazette No. 69, the National Higher School of Optics and Precision Engineering in Sétif has been established at Sétif 1 University – Ferhat Abbas.
This achievement marks the culmination of the development of the Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, established in 1978, through international partnerships with Chinese and German universities and institutions, including the Carl Zeiss branch specializing in the manufacture of optical equipment in Algeria.
With this new institution, the number of university higher education institutions in the wilaya of Sétif has increased to four.
