On Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at the Central Library of Sétif 1 University Ferhat Abbas, the activities of the first edition of the Reverse Engineering Hackathon in Mechanical Engineering were officially launched. The event is taking place from March 31st to April 2nd, 2026.
The hackathon is organized by the university incubator in collaboration with the Research Unit in Additive Manufacturing of Sétif, with the participation of students from various national universities.
The opening session featured a presentation on the hackathon’s objectives and evaluation criteria delivered by the jury members. The main themes include economic, mechanical, and electrical aspects, with a strong emphasis on integrating technical analysis with economic perspectives. Evaluation criteria focus on innovation, feasibility, and economic viability.
The University Rector, Pr. Mohamed El Hadi Latreche, together with the Rector of the University of Béjaïa – Abderrahmane Mira, Pr. Benyaiche Abdelkrim, as well as vice-rectors, deans, institute directors, and heads of university structures, followed the event’s progress and interacted with participants.
The hackathon brings together 50 students from different national universities, divided into 12 teams, competing over 30 continuous hours. Participants are working on innovative technical solutions through product analysis, feasibility studies, business model development, and marketing strategies, before presenting their projects to a specialized jury.
