Under the slogan “Memory of Struggle… and a Journey of Building”, the Sétif University Campus commemorated, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Sétif 1 University - Ferhat Abbas, the 70th anniversary of National Student Day (May 19, 1956–2026), in the presence of local authorities, university officials, faculty members, students, and guests.
The celebration started with a symbolic ceremony at “19 May 1956” Square, including the raising of the national flag, the national anthem, and a tribute to the martyrs of the Algerian Revolution.
The event featured exhibitions showcasing student innovation projects, scientific clubs, cultural activities, and university initiatives.
In his speech, the University Director, Prof. Mohamed El Hadi Latreche, recalled the historic commitment of Algerian students to the liberation movement and emphasized the importance of continuing efforts toward scientific excellence, innovation, and national development.
The program also included the finals of the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” competition and the “Best Research Work” competition for doctoral students, in addition to cultural performances and the honoring of outstanding students and scientific clubs.
During the event, the company “Taco Food” announced 100 job opportunities for graduating students through a dedicated digital platform, reflecting the university’s openness to the socio-economic environment and its commitment to graduate employability.
